10 Reasons to Love the Benefits of Calamansi

Calamansi or Kalamansi in Tagalog language is widely known in tropical countries like in Southeast Asia particularly in the Philippines.

For some countries like in the west, they called this "Calamondin" but usually use the shrub tree as an ornamental plant in their yards.

This amazing citrus fruit is always part of Filipino cooking recipes because of its sweet and sour taste that everybody loves. But the benefits of Calamansi is not only limited to improve kitchen recipes but also for personal and treatment use.
So, how beneficial is this Calamansi? Let me share with you what we, Filipinos  benefited this little but incredible lime.

Condiment for food recipes. Calamansi juice is excellent as a condiment especially in marinating chicken, pork or beef meat. The sweet and sour taste of its juice is what makes the foods delicious. Usually, Calamansi juice is also serve as a sauce mixed with soy sauce for fried and roasted meat.

Stops stinky smell on fish. Squeeze the lime on fish and other sea foods to fight the smell.

Skin bleaching agent. Before taking a bath, cut Calamansi into halves and rub it on your face for at least 5-10 minutes. This is an average time for the juice to penetrate on your skin. Sometimes it took me 20-30 minutes before I wash my face because I don't feel irritations. Others may feel stinging sensation. If you feel a burning sensation, wash your face immediately. You may rub Calamansi to other parts of your body you want to lighten. Because of the strong acid content of Calamansi juice, it is advisable to use this on your face for 2-3 times a week.

Removes stains on clothes. Rub the pulp of Calamansi into the stained clothes until the stains remove. This is only applicable on new and fresh stains.

Cleanses body dirts. Rub the halved Calamansi on creases of your skin to loosen the dirt. My mother and I regularly use this on our fingers on both hands and feet then wash afterward.

Triple power underarms deodorizer.  Calamansi is not only good as anti-perspirant deodorant but also whitens your underarms and free from bad odor.

Fights body odor. Not only underarms are odor-free but also your entire body. Here's how I use it. I cut 4-5 pieces of Calamansi and squeeze it on a tub of water. I prefer not to use shower because I can put as much as Calamansi as I want. After bathing, you will feel a different freshness in your body. Even if your body sweats, you don't smell!

Relieves cough. What makes this fruit outstanding is it's healing wonder on cough. Make a lemonade juice by squeezing 3-4 pieces of Calamansi then add some sugar. The lemonade juice softens the phlegm in the lungs.

Removes dandruff.  Rub the halved Calamansi into the scalp gently with the use of cloth as a cover to prevent the pulps from sticking into the hair. Calamansi is also great at fighting itchiness on scalp and other skin parts.

Increase hair volume. Are you getting bald? Worry not because Calamansi can help you! It doesn't only makes you dandruff-free but also increases your hair volume. Use this fruit, same with how you treat dandruff.

I used to drink Calamansi juice now in lieu to commercialized juices, and it's very effective that starts to glow my skin into a smoother complexion. My pimples just disappeared right after less than 2 weeks of drinking it as my snack juice. It helps talaga.

a friend of mine advised me to drink calamansi juice (warm water and calamansi only, no sugar) to help me relieve my minor ulcer problem. at first i wasn't sure if i believe him since calamansi is acid base but when i do my research it is actually indicated for peptic ulcer disease and its very effective moreover that when i drink it everyday my another health problem (chronic sinusitis) disappears. no post nasal drip, no tonsilitis which often accompanied my sinus problem. all are gone as long i drink it regularly. hope calamansi can help you too.

@Vin: As far as I know, effective sya but not depend on Calamansi alone for hair growth. Of course, you can eat some healthy foods rich in protein. Also, try Aloe Vera para lumago ang buhok mo. Effective sya.
